Studio D'Artisan
Founded in 1979 by Shigeharu Tagaki in Osaka, Studio D'Artisan is the original pioneer of the "Osaka 5" and the modern Japanese denim movement. Originally inspired by vintage French workwear and 1950s Americana, the brand focuses on playful rebellion and extreme textile experimentation. Their signature is the "DO-1" series—the world’s first-ever natural indigo, hank-dyed selvedge jean—and their cheeky "pig" mascots, Clipper and Indy. Everything is Made in Japan, utilizing antique G3 Toyoda looms to create some of the slubbiest, most textured denim in existence.
