The G-1 jacket’s history begins with its predecessor, the M-422, standardized by the U.S. Navy in 1940. Evolving from the M-422A, the G-1 was officially standardized in 1947, becoming the Navy and Marine Corps’ standard leather flight jacket with a fur collar, bi-swing back, and multiple pockets

As a special flight jacket for the Navy, The G1 flight jacket has been used since the World War until the 1980’s. Usually made of goatskin, this is rarer verison of horsehide that is re-developed by Double Helix.
